Mia was a university student in a busy city. She lived in a small room with old furniture. Every month, she worried about money. Her parents could not help her. Mia worked at a café, but the pay was low. After rent and food, almost nothing remained.
One Tuesday morning, Mia opened her wallet. Only three coins and a crumpled note stared back at her. She needed to buy books for her final exam. Without them, she would fail.
That afternoon, her boss at the café called. “We must close the shop for two weeks,” he said. “No work, no pay.” Mia’s heart fell. She walked home slowly. The sky was grey, and her stomach was empty.
The next day, she saw a flyer on a wall: “Help needed: Clean the city park. Earn 20 coins per hour.” Mia ran to the park. An old man with a kind face gave her a broom. She swept leaves, picked up trash, and cleaned benches. After four hours, her hands hurt, but the man paid her in cash.
Mia counted the money. It was enough for one book, not for all. She felt sad again. Then she remembered her old books from the first year. She went to the student library and exchanged them for half the price. A librarian saw her and said, “Take this used copy of your exam book. No cost.”
Mia smiled. She bought the second book with her park money and received the third for free. That night, she studied until dawn.
Mia passed her exam with the highest mark. Years later, she became a teacher. She never forgot the week when three coins taught her how to try harder.
